Deadgood Bookkeeper - London

IMMEDIATE START

Deadgood is a UK based company that specialises in designing, manufacturing and distributing collections of Furniture, Lighting and Interior products for use in commercial projects across the world. We have offices in London, Newcastle upon Tyne and Bristol.

Established in 2004 our Deadgood brand has built a reputation within the commercial furniture industry for producing exciting, bold collections with an emphasis on great service, good quality and longevity. The majority of products are manufactured using a network of UK manufactures and are distributed globally using a network of dealers, agents, specifiers and direct accounts.

The company prides itself on building a rewarding, flexible working environment and is currently looking to recruit an experienced bookkeeper to join our small but growing London team.

The role will be to manage the financial administration of our company. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, professional and capable of managing their workload and prioritising tasks within a commercial environment. We're looking for an enthusiastic individual who has the appetite to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Maintaining purchase sales and nominal ledgers.
  • Carrying out monthly reconciliation of all control accounts and bank accounts.
  • Calculating and processing monthly journals.
  • Producing monthly management accounts.
  • Preparing VAT return.
  • Providing support for the production manager during busy periods including the processing of sales orders.

Day-to-day Tasks:

Overall management of Sage Accounting software including:

  • Inputting of information / Book keeping.
  • Sales Accounting and Credit Control.
  • Purchase orders and invoicing.
  • Chart of Accounts and Nominal Ledger.
  • Cash management and bank.
  • Credit Card and expense management.
  • Direct Debit management.
  • Co-ordinate Payroll management with 3rd party - Pay roll administration, pension, student loan and all HMRC taxation and compliance.
  • VAT compliance and management.
  • Administration of employee expenses.
  • Input into and oversight of company procurement and expenditure of consumables and other regular acquisitions/purchases.

Management Information:

  • Monthly management accounts and forecasts.
  • Assistance and management of cash flow forecasts.
  • Preparation of year end draft accounts to submit to our accountants.
  • Company Matters in Association with the Directors of the company.
  • Renewal of company insurances.
  • Other Ad-Hoc financial duties as and when required.

Key Skills:

  • Our ideal employee will need the ability to work with minimal instruction and the confidence. to develop new ways of working, whilst also being organised, literate and numerate.
  • You most definitely need to be hardworking and diligent, with a keen eye for the detail.
  • You’ll need to schedule and prioritise your own work load to meet our deadlines.
  • You would be expected to have five years’ experience in a financial environment.
  • Full competency on Sage 50.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and good standard of Maths.
  • Willingness to learn and to improve existing processes.
  • Helpful, supportive team working approach.
  • Able to analyse and solve problems constructively.
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience with payroll and monthly accounts reconciliations.

Package:

  • 25-30 Hours per week.
  • Open to flexible working hours
  • Potential for full time with extra office administration duties.
  • We are prepared to be flexible for the right candidate, who could be self-employed or could be a company employee.
  • Working from home is a possibility for some of the time once both parties are confident the roles can be executed efficiently.
  • 25k- 30k (Pro Rata depending on experience)

Deadgood Design & Production Intern - London

JANUARY 2018 START

We're looking for highly motivated, well presented and talented individuals to assist in the daily running of our very busy London studio! You will be working on various projects including the design and development of new and existing products, marketing and preparation for up and coming exhibitions.

Applicants should have:

  • A high degree of presentation and a good ability to communicate ideas.
  • A good knowledge of materials, processes and the supply chain would be beneficial.
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe CS Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and either Solidworks or Rhino. We welcome other CAD software users, however you would need to bring your own laptop in to work from.
  • Good knowledge of technical drawings.
  • The ability to work as part of a team (and also have fun!)

Internships last for 2-3 month periods depending on availability, workload and suitability to the roles. The position is unpaid, however we do offer an allowance for Oyster Card Travel in Central London and lunch.

Deadgood Branding Intern - Newcastle, London or Bristol

You will be working on various projects including the design and managment of print and digital media, development of brand guidelines, managing the asset library, website and social media upkeep, marketing and preparation and assistance for up and coming exhibitions.

Applicants should have:

  • A high degree of presentation and a good ability to communicate ideas.
  • A good knowledge of current digital design trends
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe CS Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign). You will be required to bring your own laptop in to work from.
  • The ability to work as part of a team (and also have fun!)
