We're all set to celebrate our fifteenth birthday during Clerkenwell Design Week 2019 and will be launching new furniture, lighting and finishes within our completely refreshed Old Street showroom. We'll also be hosting our popular Deadgood x Bute workshops, alongside an interactive installation by artist Tannaz Oroumchi and a competition from architectural model makers Chisel & Mouse.
With many of you starting to make plans for the week, we wanted to make sure you swing by and say hello, after all we like being Deadgood and know you will too!
New products on show include a bold installation of the ‘Bristol Light’ designed in house, alongside ‘Lap Stool’, our second collaboration with British designers SmithMatthias. We will also be showcasing a new finish aptly titled ‘Get Wasted’.
The ‘Bristol Light’ is a simple modern pendant fitting designed in house and manufactured by artisan craftsmen located adjacent to our Bristol design studio. Utilising a time honoured free blown glass making technique, this traditional process allows for either a signature cobalt blue or clear crystal colour to be achieved. The form is an efficient shape fit for a high output LED ‘UFO’ bulb and is an ideal solution for both task and decorative lighting requirements.
The ‘Lap Stool’ is a range of two new stacking timber stools designed by SmithMatthias. Produced in solid European Oak, this counter or bench height stool features a simple and overtly visible lap joint, offering inherent structural strength to the product. A bent metal foot rest and shaped seat add extra elements of comfort and practicality.
'Get Wasted' is a new standard finish available on selected products from our ‘Working Girl’ & ‘Spun Lighting’ collections. This durable powder coated finish utilises 100% recycled paint that would normally end up either chemically separated or in landfill. Grey in colour and inconsistent in tone from batch to batch, the finish is speckled with small flecks of extra colour throughout.
British designer David Irwin has created his first range of textiles in collaboration with the renowned Scottish mill - Bute Fabrics. The collection is inspired by the island and intricately celebrates the company’s heritage, its location and its people. We will be demonstrating two fabrics from this new Bute Fabrics collection within the Showroom. ’Mineral’ & ‘Kin’ will be shown on the ‘Working Girl Lounge Chair & Sofa’, also designed by David Irwin.
Our #TotesDeadgood event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the fabrics themselves whilst getting hands on and making your own unique Deadgood x Bute courier bag.
Architectural model makers Chisel & Mouse will present their biggest cityscape wall hanging model to date, a giant architectural sculpture of London. One of the world’s leading and most recognisable cities, the huge London cityscape will be on display within our showroom.
Visitors will have the opportunity to win one of three models from the Chisel & Mouse ‘Blue River’ series.
Alongside this we’ll also be showcasing an interactive installation by artist Tannaz Oroumchi. The new piece is inspired by the location of our design studios and the network of UK suppliers essential to the creation of our Collections.
We remain humble and grateful and couldn’t have achieved our success without the support, hard work and dedication of our entire team. Our Deadgood family so to speak, without whom this business would be nothing more than a bright idea on the back of a beer mat.
We’re also passionate about the next stage of our journey and are committed to innovate, inspire and produce the very best collections of furniture, lighting and interior products we possibly can.
Looking forward to seeing you. Drop us a line if you have a fixed time and don’t forget to RSVP for the workshop!
