On the 4th December, one of our directors, Dan Ziglam flew out to the Far East to take part in a “marathon” 1,000 mile charity bike ride across Vietnam.
Dan, along with friends Anthony & Danielle, will be peddling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, in aid of the ‘Jennifer Trust’- a charity which supports children and adults with the potentially life-threatening disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
The idea was born after Anthony’s nephew, Lucas Hannigan, was diagnosed with a severe form of the disease. Lucas sadly passed away on December 8th 2008, and Anthony wanted to find a way to keep his spirit alive whilst raising both money and awareness of the condition- a bike ride seemed like the perfect option.......
Together, the trio hope to raise their target of £10,000, for the ‘Jennifer Trust,’ by cycling the full 1,000 miles, taking Lucas with them- both in spirit AND print. They plan to put posters up of Lucas along the way as a reminder of his short but inspiring life.
In Dan’s own words, “Going on this bike ride is my effort to help. I may not be a doctor but I am handy with bike tools and am adept at reading maps. For anyone wishing to make a donation and to find out more about Lucas’ story, please visit the, ‘Lucas Was Here’ website.”
Any help you can give will be hugely appreciated, many many thanks!
