Jon has exhibited internationally since 2001 and has work in the permanent collections of The Victoria and Albert Museum and The Science Museum in London.
1 Describe yourself..?
Hello there, I am an artist called Jon, I am not worm or mole based but I do have a beard. I draw, paint and scan but do not juggle bowling pins or press delicate wild-flowers. I’ve worked for many important sounding clients and have never had a single filling or even been stung by a bee. I have exhibited my work far and wide, the furthest being in Australia and the widest being in China. I enjoy carbohydrates and music from old computer games and am not a fan of lifting heavy objects, going up ladders or football teams who play in red. One day, when all of this is over, I want to go to sleep and not get up until noon at the earliest, unless of course I need a wee, in which case I’d get up but get back in before the duvet goes cold!
2 What is Deadgood?
Trees are Deadgood and when they die they are deadwood!
3 Tell us 5 things you like...
I like salads and the moon and cartoons and music and dancing and doodling, that’s six; I’ve given you a bonus thing I like as a treat!
Over recent years Jon has built a strong reputation through his unique and colourful artworks of swooping, intertwining lines and hyper-emotional characters. Working across a variety of media his art retains a hand-made, hand-drawn quality alongside a sense of British selfdeprecation, dry humour and modern-day anxiety.
In 2008 he was invited to appear as a guest on the popular BBC children’s TV show Blue Peter where he made a special piece of work live on air to celebrate the shows 50th birthday. He has received two D&AD Silver award nominations and has worked on numerous commercial projects with; The BBC, Cadbury, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Sony, KidRobot, MTV, Levis, 55DSL, Gortex, Snickers, Miss Sixty, Size? and Rip Curl.
He has also designed a special sick bag for Virgin Atlantic flights.
